Alas, I had my first 3D assignment for Form and Structure with the inspiring and knowledgeable Howard Gerry. The assignment involved taking a somewhat random and meaningless shape and incorporating it into the top or side of a useable object (or scale model of such). I ended up creating a nearly-scale jewellery box made of balsa wood with a birch lid and base. I intend to use this thing!

I will eventually take proper images of the box from multiple angles.
