Be a Star in Your Role

February 27, 2024

Caffeinated Thought of the Week:

Geno Auriemma, the 11-time National Champion Coach of the Women’s UConn basketball team, recently expressed his thoughts in a post-game press conference. When a reporter commented, “She will never be anything but a role player,” Coach Geno emphasized the importance of every player’s role, stating, “Everybody’s role is really, really important. You just have to play it to the best of your abilities.” He illustrated his point with an analogy, imagining what would happen at Billy Joel’s concerts if the person responsible for bringing out the piano failed to do so. He concluded by urging, “Be a star in your role, whatever it is.”

I love this so much because it mirrors the essence of what it means to be a Street Sweeper. Here's the clip in case you're interested: Twitter Link

Quote of the Week:

“I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve." - Albert Schweitzer

Reflection of the Week:

It’s important to remember that whatever your current roles may be, they hold significant importance. God has placed you in this position for a reason and a season. We don’t know how long this season will last, so it’s crucial to put our best foot forward because see your work.

Do you feel like a “role player” in any of your current roles?
